Accessibility Statement

Surfboard Factory Hawaii wants everyone to be able to find, compare and buy the right board — whatever device, browser or assistive technology you use. This statement explains what we do to make this website accessible, where we know it still falls short, and how to reach us if something gets in your way.

We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA, as our reference. These guidelines explain how to make web content more usable for people with visual, hearing, motor, speech and cognitive disabilities.

This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 AA: most of the site meets the standard, but some parts do not yet fully do so. We are working through those parts and list them honestly below.

• Keyboard access — menus, sliders, filters and forms can be reached and used with the Tab, Enter and arrow keys.
• Readable text — body text can be enlarged up to 200% with your browser's zoom without content being cut off, and pages reflow on phones and tablets.
• Structure — pages use headings, lists and landmarks so screen readers can jump straight to the section you need.
• Images — product and editorial images carry text alternatives describing the board or product shown.
• Colour — information is never conveyed by colour alone; sale prices, for example, are also marked with a label and a struck-through original price.
• Forms — contact, newsletter and checkout fields have visible labels and clear error messages.
• Your privacy choices — the cookie banner can be operated by keyboard and reopened at any time from the footer.

Despite our efforts, you may run into the following. We are actively working on them:

• Product images from our catalogue — some board and accessory photos come straight from our inventory system and may have only a basic description (brand and model) rather than a detailed one.
• Colour contrast — a few text elements placed over photographs, such as slide captions, may not always meet the minimum contrast ratio.
• Custom board builder — the custom-order configurator is highly visual and is not yet fully usable with a screen reader. Our shapers are happy to take a custom order by phone or email instead.
• Third-party content — embedded YouTube videos, Google Maps and the secure card-payment form are provided by other companies. We choose providers with accessibility commitments, but we cannot fully control their content. Captions depend on the video's owner.

This website is designed to work with the current versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge on desktop and mobile, and with common assistive technologies, including VoiceOver (macOS and iOS), NVDA and JAWS (Windows) and TalkBack (Android).

It relies on HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Browsing works without JavaScript, but filtering the shop, the cart and checkout need it enabled.

We assess this website ourselves, combining automated testing (Google Lighthouse and the axe accessibility engine) with manual checks: navigating by keyboard only, zooming to 200%, and reviewing key pages with a screen reader. Issues found are fixed in regular updates, and this statement is reviewed whenever the site changes significantly.
